Kant and Critical Philosophy

The course provides an opportunity to explore the work of one of the great philosophers in depth. Immanuel Kant revolutionised the discipline of philosophy with the publication of the Critique of Pure Reason. It is not just the content of Kant’s arguments that matter here, but the introduction of a whole new system for the analysis of philosophical problems which is perhaps his greatest contribution. Very few thinkers have been as systematic as Kant and we will aim to do justice to this by providing an opportunity for a detailed engagement with his texts, but also by going on to explore the deep connections between his work in metaphysics and his approach to morality and aesthetics.
